WINCHESTER, Va. - The SU baseball team rode the strength of three Tyler Daniel (Richmond, Va./JR Tucker) home runs to defeat Mount Aloysius 8-6 and 12-4 in a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday evening. The game one win also snaps an eight game losing streak.

In game one, Shenandoah (4-12-1) trailed 3-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning before Daniel cracked a grand slam home run over the right field fence to give the Hornets an 8-3 advantage.

Daniel had previously tied the game at 2-2 one inning earlier when he knocked a two-out, two-run blast over the left field wall. This home run, his fourth of the season, plated Josh Bosley (Oakland, Md./Garrett CC). Bosley started the two-out rally with a double to center.

Daniel's home runs made a first-time winner out of freshman Mike Christoforo (Arlington, Mass./Arlington). Christoforo went the distance in improving to 1-1 on the season; he struck out three against seven hits, six runs (all earned) and two walks.

Daniel started off the nightcap like he finished the first game; his solo home run to lead off the second inning began a six-run rally which helped propel SU to the 12-4 victory.

Four Shenandoah pitchers combined for the win. Freshman Derek Wiser (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge) earned his first college win with 1.1 innings of solid relief work. He struck out one of the eight batters he faced.

Christoforo was 2 for 3 with a team high 3 RBI in game two while Manny Yanas (Palmdale, Calif./William Penn) was 2 for 3 with two RBI and three runs scored.
