Women's Lax Trounces Trinity

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The SU women's lacrosse team got its second straight victory Thursday afternoon as SU defeated Trinity 20-8 in non-league action.

Senior Christine LaTouche led the Hornets (4-5) in the victory with a career high seven goals. Three of these tallies came in the first half as Shenandoah led 9-3 at the break.

Trinity (0-7) never got closer than the halftime margin and SU led 16-6 with just under 10 minutes left.

In addition to LaTouche's seven goals, Sharon Sparwasser (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) had four goals and two assists, Joia Davis (Trenton, NJ/Stuart County) four goals and one assist and Joyce Cespedes (Virginia Beach, Va./Tallwood) two goals and an assist.

The Hornets outshot their hosts 53-15 and scooped up 35 groundballs to the Tigers 10.

Teara Strum scored all eight of Trinity's goals.

This win also gives the squad double its win total from the 2002 season.

Shenandoah completes its regular season Saturday afternoon with a Dixie Conference contest against Ferrum College.
