GREENSBORO, N.C. - The SU men's basketball team clinched the No. 2 seed at next week's USA South Conference Tournament with a 62-58 victory over host Greensboro College Sunday afternoon.

With the win, SU (14-9 overall, 10-4 USA South) completes its best ever USA South Conference season with 10 victories and gives coach Rob Harris his best ever campaign in his four years at the helm of the Hornets.

As the No. 2 seed, Shenandoah will face No. 7 seed Ferrum in the 4:00 game. Greensboro (12-12, 10-4) will be the No. 3 seed because they have two losses this season to Shenandoah. The Pride will face sixth seeded Chowan in the 6:00 game Thursday night. For complete information, please check the USA South web site at http://www.usasouth.net

In Sunday's game, the two teams traded the lead five times and had three ties before Chris Rhone (Washington, D.C./Northwestern) finally gave the visitors the lead for good with a layup at the 9:04 mark.

SU extended its advantage to as much as five, while GC cut the deficit to one with 3:54 left. The Pride actually had an opportunity to tie the game with Garrett Williams was fouled at the 3:29 mark, but he missed the front end of a one and one.

Greensboro attempted to foul in order to get back in the game and the strategy worked in the sense that SU missed three of six down the stretch, but freshman Onyie Onunaku (Bristow, Va./Stonewall Jackson) iced the game for his club when he calmly drained both of his attempts with seven ticks showing.

Rhone led the victors with 16 while Kenneth Purnell (Baltimore, Md./Lake Clifton) had 13 with six assists. Marcellus Morgan had 19 for GC, 15 of which came in the first half.
