Women's Lax Trounces Ferrum

FERRUM, Va. - The SU women's lacrosse team held host Ferrum College to just five shots Sunday afternoon as the Hornets won their USA South Conference opener 17-1.

SU (2-2 overall, 1-0 USA South) scored just 26 seconds into the game and led 11-1 at the break over Ferrum (2-3, 0-1).

After Ginni Matern scored for FC 7:37 in, the Lady Panthers saw Shenandoah tally the final 15 goals of the contest. Senior Sharon Sparwasser (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) had five goals, freshman Kelly Matagiese (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May) four and Lauren Prentice (Westminister, Md./Liberty) three to lead the balanced attack.

The Hornets had different players score, one off of the season high seven in a 15-4 victory over Wesley two weeks ago.
