WINCHESTER, Va. – No. 8 in the South Region Greensboro College spoiled Shenandoah University's USA South Conference men's soccer opener, defeating the Hornets 2-0 Sunday afternoon.
Greensboro (4-3-1 overall, 2-1 USA South) scored goals in the 19th and 40th minutes to provide the winning margin.
Shenandoah (3-4-1, 0-1) took two of the game's three second half shots, but GC keeper Matt Brown was not forced to make a save on either attempt.
Eric Hatchett tallied the game winner for the Pride at the 18:46 mark; Adam Sellars followed 21 minutes later.
SU keeper Chris Peter (Chantilly, Va./Northern Virginia CC) had six saves in the loss.
