ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – Shenandoah University held a double digit first half lead Saturday afternoon in its USA South Conference women's basketball game at N.C. Wesleyan, but couldn't keep it as the Bishops rallied for a 55-54 victory.

Shenandoah (2-8, 0-4 USA South) had two chances to win in the final 30 seconds, but saw two midrange jumpers fall short to allow Wesleyan (3-7, 1-1 USA South) to escape with the triumph.

Leading 28-15 with 2:11 remaining in the first, SU watched the Lady Bishops go on an 8-0 run to finish the half and cut the deficit to just five at 28-23. The final bucket in the spurt came at the buzzer as Cheyenne Hall grabbed a rebound of a Kimberly Hall miss and stuck it back as the horn sounded.

NCWC opened the second by scoring 10 of the first 15 points, tying the game at 33-33 with 14:06 left. The two teams then traded the lead once and were tied on four other occasions before the Lady Bishops seized the lead for good when J.D. Richardson converted a pair of free throws at the 8:25 mark.

Shenandoah stayed within four points the rest of the way and had two possessions in which could have taken the lead before getting the ball for the last time with 32 seconds to play. Freshman Netagia Foreman (Winchester, Va./Sherando) and junior Joia Davis (Trenton, N.J./Stuart County) each missed their attempts from five and 12-feet, respectively, off of set plays.

Foreman led all scorers with 18 while Cassie Womack (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield) posted a game-high 13 boards. Hall and Trenae Turner led the hosts with 13 apiece.
