WINCHESTER, Va. - N.C. Wesleyan got the game's only goal via penalty kick Tuesday afternoon to give the visiting Bishops a 1-0 USA South Conference men's soccer victory over host Shenandoah.
Salvador Benitez converted the PK in the 74th minute to give NC Wesleyan (8-4, 4-0 USA South) all of the offense it would need against SU (4-7, 0-4).
The Bishops were awarded the try after the Hornets were called for a foul just inside the 18-yard box. Benitez was selected to take the kick and beat diving Shenandoah keeperÂ
Chris Peter with a shot to the right side of the goal.
Peter had a sixth best in school history 11 saves, but it was not enough as the SU offense was held to four shots on the afternoon.
