WINCHESTER, Va. - For the second straight game, it was a penalty kick that was the difference in the Shenandoah University men's soccer contest.

This time it was USA South Conference rival Methodist that pulled the trick in a 2-1 victory Saturday afternoon at Shenandoah.

Shenandoah (4-8, 0-5 USA South) scored the game's initial goal in the 44th minute when freshman William Phouminh gathered in a Jace Kennythrough pass and slipped his shot past MC keeper Jeremy Belnap.

Unfortunately for the Hornets, Methodist (4-7-1, 1-1) answered back in the second half.

Chris McDonald tied it in the 63rd minute when he ripped a loose ball following a Monarchs corner kick off the crossbar and in from 20 yards out.

Four minutes later, MC was awarded the penalty kick following a foul on McDonald in the box and Jimmy Izaguirre was selected for the try. Izaquirre calmly placed his shot to the right - SU keeper Chris Peter had no chance as he guessed left.

The Hornets had one last chance with 10 minutes remaining when they were awarded a corner kick, but freshman Fabian Rowe was high with his header attempt.
