Men Snap Losing Streak

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Shenandoah University stopped its four-game losing streak Wednesday afternoon with a 2-1 overtime men's soccer victory over host Washington (Md.).

Shenandoah (5-8) won for the first time since September 28 when senior Kyle Hodges scored an unassisted goal off of a corner kick in the 104th minute against the Shoremen (4-9-1).

Hodges, normally a goalkeeper, was playing in the field because of extensive injuries to the Hornets roster. The goal was the first of his four-year career at SU.

Coach Rob Kulton's club found itself down a goal after Josh Todd gave WC the early lead with an unassisted goal in the 27th minute. Freshman William Phouminh answered for the visitors off of a Fabian Rowe service with just 20 seconds to play in the first half - this knotted the score for the next 59 minutes until Hodges ended it with the golden goal.

Senior Chris Peter made a sixth best in school history 12 saves to earn the victory. From the time of Phouminh's goal until Hodges' game-winner, Peter faced all 16 shots taken in the contest.
