CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Shenandoah University stopped its four-game losing streak Wednesday afternoon with a 2-1 overtime men's soccer victory over host Washington (Md.).
Shenandoah (5-8) won for the first time since September 28 when seniorÂ
Kyle Hodges scored an unassisted goal off of a corner kick in the 104th minute against the Shoremen (4-9-1).
Hodges, normally a goalkeeper, was playing in the field because of extensive injuries to the Hornets roster. The goal was the first of his four-year career at SU.
Coach Rob Kulton's club found itself down a goal after Josh Todd gave WC the early lead with an unassisted goal in the 27th minute. FreshmanÂ
William Phouminh answered for the visitors off of aÂ
Fabian Rowe service with just 20 seconds to play in the first half - this knotted the score for the next 59 minutes until Hodges ended it with the golden goal.
SeniorÂ
Chris Peter made a sixth best in school history 12 saves to earn the victory. From the time of Phouminh's goal until Hodges' game-winner, Peter faced all 16 shots taken in the contest.
