WINCHESTER, Va. - The SU women's lacrosse team turned in its largest margin of victory in history Saturday afternoon as the Hornets opened USA South Conference play with a 32-1 victory over visiting Ferrum College.
Shenandoah (3-1, 1-0 USA South) led 17-1 at the half as the it poured in 11 straight goals to start the contest. The 31-goal margin surpasses a 27-goal bulge in a 29-2 victory at Averett on March 27, 2004.
After the first 3:35 of Saturday's game passed without a tally, SU scored 11 times in the next 11:54 to put the game out of reach. Ferrum (0-2, 0-1) broke the string with unassisted goal by Jennifer Phillips at the 9:06 mark.
The Hornets answered right back after Phillips' goal with an unassisted goal byÂ
Melissa Bryant, and then preceded to score five more times before the first half ended. The final goal, by sophomoreÂ
Joia Davis, came with nine seconds left.
Shenandoah had eight different women score goals; sophomoreÂ
Erika Bradd led this group with a third best in school history eight goals. She also had two assists for an even 10 points on the afternoon.

SU outshot the Lady Panthers 49-7, including 18-1 in the second half. SU also held a 28-8 advantage in groundballs and won 17 of 20 draw controls.
