GREENSBORO, N.C. - For the second straight contest, the Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team dug itself out of an early hole it could not recover from; Saturday afternoon it was Greensboro that benefited in a 14-6 USA South Conference victory.
Greensboro (1-5, 1-1 USA South) scored the first four goals of the game against Shenandoah (4-3, 1-1 USA South) and led 9-2 at the break.
The seven goal cushion was more than enough for the defending USA South Conference champion Pride - they led by at least five goals for the remainder of the contest.
The Hornets got it to the five goal deficit afterÂ
Melissa Bryant tallied unassisted with 10:08 remaining, but GC answered with three goals in the final 7:11 to provide the winning margin.
Erika Bradd andÂ
Kelly Matagiese led SU with two points apiece - Bradd had two goals while Matagiese added a goal and an assist.
Amanda McGlaughlin had a game high seven points on five goals and two assists for Greensboro.
