WINCHESTER, Va. - For the fourth straight year, Shenandoah and Ferrum met Tuesday afternoon in the No. 4 vs No. 5 game of the USA South Conference Tournament. For the third straight year, Shenandoah eliminated the Lady Panthers with a decisive victory.

Shenandoah (8-5) was a 19-2 winner on Tuesday, getting four goals each from Joia Davis and Lauren Prentice and three goals from Kelly Matagiese and Melissa Bryant.

SU now moves on to face regular season champion Christopher Newport University in Saturday's 1:00 semi-final at Averett University's Cougars Den. The winner of that game will face the winner of the No. 2 Greensboro vs No. 3 Methodist contest in a 1:00 championship game Sunday.

Like CNU, Greensboro had a bye in Tuesday's quarterfinals. Methodist eliminated No. 6 Averett with a 17-1 victory on Tuesday in Fayetteville.

Ferrum (1-9) got both of its goals in the first half on free position shots from Stephanie Perih. Perih tied the game at 1-1 with a goal at the 26:49 mark and then made it 6-2 with another tally almost 16 minutes later.

The Hornets opened the scoring just 10 seconds in when Matagiese fed Davis for the first of her four tallies and led 10-2 at the break. Davis had all four of her goals in the first, the last closing out the scoring at the 2:28 mark.

Shenandoah held the undermanned Lady Panthers to just three shots on the day while taking 42 of its own. SU also held a 42-20 groundball advantage and won 16 of 23 draw controls.

SU keepers Jessica Young and Wendy Taylor had to make just one save (by Taylor in the second half) to get the win.
