BALTIMORE, Md. - Host Johns Hopkins answered an early Shenandoah run and seized a 7-5 non-league victory over the Hornets Wednesday afternoon.

Shenandoah (17-14) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when sophomore David Jenkins plated Daniel Ziccardy with a single to right. Ziccardy opened the game with a single to center, stole second and advanced to third on a single by Adam Duckett.

Unfortunately, the lead wouldn't last long.

Hopkins (11-4) answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning and two more in the second to take a commanding 4-1 advantage.

SU got back into it with two in the third - Adam Kuchemba led off with a home run before Preston Tarleton drove in Jenkins with an RBI single, but the Blue Jays were able to answer with two more in the fourth.

The Hornets made one more comeback bid, scoring a pair of runs in the eighth, but JHU answered with one in the bottom of the frame to provide the final margin.

Freshman Taylor DuFrene took the loss after giving up six runs on five hits and four walks in 3.2 innings. He struck out two.
