WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's basketball team got its first USA South Conference victory of the season Saturday afternoon with a 67-59 win over NC Wesleyan.
Wesleyan (2-8, 0-2 USA South) quickly took a 10-2 lead, but Shenandoah (4-7, 1-1) refused to fold its tents.
The Hornets answered that early Bishops run with an 18-3 spurt of its own to take a 20-13 lead by the 9:36 mark.
Shenandoah would hold the lead for the remainder of the contest, but Wesleyan made a game of it well into the second half.

Valerie Samples three-pointer at the 16:03 mark of the second, but the Lady Bishops cut the deficit to five, 48-43, on the strength of an 11-2 run from the 10:55 to 6:45 marks.
Dee Fisher finally ended this streak with a layup 27 seconds later, and the lead remained at least six points for all but 37 seconds the rest of the way.

Alicia Sanders had a game-high 20 points for the victors while Fisher added a season-high 15 and sophomoreÂ
Netagia Foreman 11. Foreman also added eight rebounds and a career-high seven steals.
Cheyenne Hall and Liz Ansley each had 15 for NCWC.
