SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury University kept its perfect baseball record intact Sunday afternoon with a 3-1 non-league win over visiting Shenandoah.
Salisbury (8-0) scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning break the 1-1 tie with Shenandoah (4-1). The Hornets had tied the game with a single run in the top of the sixth.
The visitors got that tying run when sophomore
Sam Fullerton drove in
Ryan Anderson with a one-out single. Anderson had reached on a double.
Fullerton reached third on a
Steven Todd groundout, but Matt McCormick grounded to third to end the rally. Shenandoah placed runners in scoring position in the second, third, fifth, sixth, seventh and ninth innings but was able to score just the single run.
Sophomore
David Frelin took the loss after giving up two runs on three hits and two walks in five innings. He came on in relief of freshman
Rhys Wolford three batters into the fourth.
Junior
Daniel Bowers led coach
Kevin Anderson's club at the plate with a 2-for-4 afternoon while Anderson and Todd both had doubles.
