WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University continued its winning ways Tuesday afternoon with a 6-1 non-league win over Gettysburg College.

Shenandoah (9-2) won for the sixth time in the last seven games by combining 10 hits with a strong pitching performance from freshman Rhys Wolford.

Wolford earned his first collegiate victory by scattering four hits and one walk in seven innings of work. He struck out four and benefited from one inning-ending double play before turning it over to Jason Burgess and Nick Sborz for the eighth and ninth, respectively.

Burgess and Sborz each gave up one hit in their inning of work but both struck out at least one batter.

Offensively, SU got all of the offense it would need with three runs in both the fourth and fifth innings. Junior Ryan Anderson drove in what proved to be the game-winning run when he lined a two-out single to right in the fifth that scored David Jenkins and Daniel Ziccardy.

One inning later, Jenkins gave the Hornets some much needed breathing room when he laced a two-out double to center that scored Ziccardy, Scott Disch and Daniel Bowers.

Jenkins finished the afternoon 2-for-4 with three RBI while Ziccardy was 3-for-4 and Anderson 1-for-4 with two runs batted in.

Gettysburg (1-4) scored its only run in the seventh Sean McGee drove in Brian Pernice with a single to right.
