ELON, N.C. – Second-seeded NC Wesleyan sent Shenandoah University into the elimination round with a 6-5 baseball victory over the Hornets Thursday morning at Elon College.
Shenandoah (24-14) now will face Greensboro College at 4:30 back at Burlington Athletic Complex in an elimination game.
NC Wesleyan (23-16) gets the rest of the day off and faces top-seeded Methodist in the winner's bracket final on Friday at noon. This winner will have two chances to claim the tournament championship on Saturday.
The Bishops never trailed against SU and after scoring a single run in the top of the third, led the rest of the way. Trailing 6-3 after NCWC scored its final run in the top of the ninth, Shenandoah answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame but could get no closer.
The Hornets scored their final two runs of the game when junior
Ryan Anderson belted a two-run home run, his third of the season, to plate classmate
David Jenkins. Jenkins had led off the inning with a double down the left field line.
The HR also put a cap on a 3-for-4 morning for Anderson. SU had 12 hits in the game with

Scott Disch all getting two apiece.
Sophomore
Drew Dobbins (2-3) was tagged with the loss after giving up five runs (four earned) on eight hits in 6.1 innings.
