WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University snapped a 13-year USA South Conference regular season men's soccer losing streak to Greensboro College Saturday afternoon by battling the Pride to a 1-1 tie.
The tie is the second straight for Shenandoah (0-5-2, 0-0-1 USA South). Since joining the USA South (then Dixie) Conference for the 1993-94 season, the Hornets had never beaten Greensboro in regular season men's soccer action.
Shenandoah's goal, in the 69th minute, also snapped a better than 676 minute scoreless streak that the Hornets had experienced since the final game of the 2005 season. An Apple QuickTime video of the goal can be viewed

Greensboro (1-5-1, 0-1-1) had opened the game's scoring by converting a penalty kick in the 55th minute. GC was awarded the PK after SU keeperÂ
Brian Garretson was called for a foul in the box against Jay Wyatt.
Wyatt then was selected to take the try, and he converted his opportunity.
Moments later, Garretson was again called for a foul in the box, but this time he was able to stop Ben Norman's try on a diving save to keep the hosts in the contest. An Apple QuickTime video of the stop can be viewed

Coach Â
Des Lawless'Â side then got on the scoring sheet for the first time all season when freshmanÂ
Chris Wondree corralled anÂ
Aaron McGuinesscorner kick with just over 25 minutes to play.
Both teams took four shots in the 20-minute overtime, but just one save (by Garretson) was required by either keeper.
Box ScoreÂ
Shenandoah returns to the pitch on Tuesday afternoon with a 4:00 contest against Marymount University.
