GREENSBORO, N.C. - Host Greensboro College combined a strong showing on the glass with excellent outside shooting to down Shenandoah University 65-52 in a USA South Conference men's basketball contest Saturday afternoon.

The Pride (14-4, 4-1) grabbed 42 rebounds to the Hornets (7-10, 1-4) 38 and canned seven three-pointers to maintain its spot atop the USA South Conference standings.

Greensboro seized control of the contest with a 12-6 run in the middle of the first half. Shenandoah had taken its only lead of the game, 14-13, when Moutkar Fawehinmi drained the first of a pair of free throws at the 12:02 mark, only to see GC kick it up a notch.

The Pride answered Fawehinmi's foul shot with a James Newman three-pointer, and they never trailed again. SU was able to keep the deficit within one possession for much of the first half, but an Adam Nicholson three-pointer at the 3:50 mark combined with two Lynn Bright free throws as the half ended gave the hosts a 31-24 lead heading into the lockerroom.

Fawehinmi scored the initial bucket of the second half to get the Hornets within five, but this is as close as they would come the rest of the way.

Fawehinmi led all scorers with 20 points and Jeremiah Lawrencerebounded from a slow start to finish with 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. He has now recorded six straight double-doubles.

Bright had 19 and Bruce Zamuel 14 for GC.
