WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's soccer team played possibly its most complete contest of the season Saturday afternoon in a 2-0 USA South Conference loss to No. 4 in the nation N.C. Wesleyan.
Shenandoah (2-12, 0-3 USA South) played the Bishops (12-0, 5-0) even for the first 37 minutes as Hornets keeperÂ
Brian Garretson made a number of point blank saves.
Unfortunately for the home fans, Garretson couldn't hold off NCWC any longer, and Kevin Lue tallied what proved to be the game-winner in the 38th minute by knocking his shot off of the crossbar and in.
The Bishops kept up the pressure after the Lue goal, and added a Luke Oakley insurance goal with just over 12 minutes to play. Oakley took a cross from Daniel Jones and blasted it past Garretson from 12 yards out.
NCWC outshot Shenandoah 21-4 and took all five of the game's corners.
Garretson finished with seven saves.
