Volleyball Splits Tri-Match

FREDERICK, Md. - Shenandoah University snapped its seven-match losing streak Saturday afternoon by winning the opening match of a non-league tri-match with Hood and Lynchburg colleges.

Shenandoah (7-13) downed the host Blazers, 3-2, before Lynchburg swept SU 3-0.

LC (13-4) won that second match, 32-30, 30-16, 30-17 after the Hornets won 30-24, 30-28, 27-30, 26-30, 15-8 in the opener.

Seniors Michelle Chandler and Jennifer Thompson led Shenandoah to that victory over HC with a pair of triple-doubles. Chandler had a co-team-high 11 kills along with 18 assists and 10 digs while Thompson had 10, 15 and 20.

Chandler and Jessi Johnson also played well at the net with six and seven blocks, respectively.

Chevon Parker matched Chandler with 11 kills.

Thompson was the story offensively and defensively against LC with seven kills, seven assists and 20 digs.

Shenandoah returns to the court Tuesday night at Eastern Mennonite.
