WINCHESTER, Va. - Greensboro College kept its USA South Conference regular season title hopes alive with a 77-67 men's basketball victory over host Shenandoah Friday night.

The Pride (18-6, 8-3 USA South) are now tied with Averett at the top of the league with each having one game to play. Greensboro travels to Christopher Newport tomorrow afternoon while Averett has its final league contest at NC Wesleyan with both contests scheduled for 4:00.

If the two teams both win tomorrow, Averett will earn the No. 1 seed and a bye at next week's USA South Conference Tournament with Greensboro taking the No. 2 seed.

Christopher Newport could earn the No. 2 seed with a win tomorrow over GC; regardless, Shenandoah (7-16, 1-10) knows it will play at the No. 2 seed on Tuesday at 7:30.

After SU scored the first three points of the contest, Greensboro seized control of the contest by scoring 12 consecutive points. GC never trailed again and its lead dropped below eight points for just one possession the rest of the way.

The lead remained between eight and 12 points for most of the second half, with Shenandoah attempting to make a run by cutting into to 73-65 with 1:11 remaining.

Unfortunately for the Hornets, second leading scorer Moutkar Fawehinmiwas whistled for his second technical of the game just after Lenzie Adams canned a pair of free throws and SU never got any closer.

Adams led all scorers with 23 points while Fawehinmi adding 16 and Jeremiah Lawrence 15 with 12 rebounds.

Adam Nicholson, who was also assessed a technical on Fawehinmi's second, led the visitors with 20 points.

SU hosts Methodist tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 in a senior day contest.
