WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's basketball team snapped its four-game losing streak with a 90-46 USA South Conference victory over visiting NC Wesleyan Saturday afternoon.

But the biggest story of the day for the Hornets (12-7, 5-4 USA South) wasn't the win over the Bishops (4-14, 1-8). It was senior Dee Fisherscoring her 1000th career point.

Fisher, who becomes the 14th member of the 1000-point club at SU, needed seven points entering the game to reach the mark. Entering the game midway through the first half, Fisher hit one of two free throws before nailing a pair of three-pointers at the 4:39 and 3:06 marks to hit the century plateau.

Fisher joins teammate Alicia Sanders as players who have reached 1000-career points this season. Sanders, the team's leading scorer, cracked 1000 points in the season opener against Pitt-Greensburg.

Both women scored in double digits Saturday, as Shenandoah turned in its second blowout victory over NC Wesleyan. Much as in the 43-point win in Rocky Mount on January 13, coach Michelle Guyant-Holloway'sclub used a big first-half run to key the win.

After being held scoreless for the first four minutes of the contest, SU reeled off a 9-0 run to take a lead it would not relinquish. The Bishops refused to fold however, and trailed by just seven with 9:01 to play. The Hornets then scored 25 of the closing 38 points in the half to take a 42-23 lead into the halftime lockerroom.

Shenandoah extended this advantage to least 20 points when Sanders knocked down three-pointer just less than two minutes into the second half and it remained there the rest of the game. The bulge became as many as 48 points before the Lady Bishops scored the final four points of the game.

Fisher led all scorers with 20 points with sophomore Valerie Samplesadding 18 points and eight assists. Sanders had 15, Whitney French 12 and Stephanie Harrold 11 to round out the hosts double-digit scoring.

April Wilson led Wesleyan with 14 points.

SU, led by Cassie Womack's nine, won the battle of the boards 42-36.
