WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah University had an offensive explosion Thursday afternoon in sweeping a non-league baseball doubleheader from Dickinson College.

The Hornets (10-6) banged out a combined 41 hits in the double dip to win 19-2 and 19-6 over the Red Devils (4-11). In both games, each starter had at least one hit.

DC actually led game one by scoring a pair of runs in the first on three hits off of SU starter Matthew Davis (1-0), but the Hornets picked him up by three runs in the bottom of the frame and six more in the second.

Seven of the nine Shenandoah starters had at least one hit during this two-inning run, including two each by seniors Daniel Ziccardy and Jenkins . Jenkins broke out of his slump with a 3-for-3 performance in the game that featured two doubles and an RBI.

Centerfielder Ryan Anderson was also dominant in the opener - he was 3-for-4 with a double and a two-run home run.

Staked to the big lead, Davis began mowing down Dickinson hitters. The sophomore retired seven straight before allowing a walk and only allowed one hit the rest of his afternoon. He turned it over to Daniel Bowers and Garyt King for the final six outs.

Davis allowed two runs on four hits and one walk to earn his first victory of the spring while Matt Teatom took the loss for the Red Devils. Teatom allowed 14 runs (10 earned) on 16 hits in 3.0 innings.

Game two brought more of the same as Shenandoah scored two in the first, and five in both the second and third to put it out of reach. Trailing 19-0, Dickinson scored four runs in the sixth and three in the seventh to provide the Hornets final margin of victory.

Jenkins and Adam Duckett each had three hits with Anderson and Ziccardy chipping in two each to make a winner of senior Jason Burgess. Burgess (2-0) allowed just one hit through the first four innings before DC had a pair of singles in the fifth. He allowed four runs on seven hits and one walk in six innings. Freshman Mike Goode retired the final three Red Devils to close out the sweep.

Anderson, a 2006 ABCA All-American, had a home run and a double for his game two hits with Jenkins getting another two doubles. He, along with Duckett, Jenkins, Adam Kessel and Matt Orner, all drove in two runs. Junior Drew Crawford was 3-for-4 with four runs batted in.
