WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah University continued its non-league baseball winning streak Monday afternoon with 14-2 and 5-3 wins over Mount Aloysius.

Shenandoah (13-7) scored one run in the first and two in the second of the opener to take a lead it would not relinquish over the Mounties (5-9). The Hornets managed to score at least one run in every inning to help improve their non-league record to 10-2.

SU broke the opener wide open against Mounties starter Fred Ziegler (0-2) with a four-run third – the Hornets had five hits in the frame including a leadoff home run from junior Adam Kessel. Ziegler was able to get out the inning after facing nine batters getting Josh Campbell and Daniel Ziccardy to fly out to right and ground to short, respectively.

Shenandoah finally chased Ziegler in the fourth after Kessel led off with an infield single and moved to third on an error and a Ryan Anderson fly to deep center. Ziegler allowed eight runs (runs earned) on 11 hits and three walks before Dustin Neff took over four batters into the inning.

Campbell finished the game 3-for-5 with four RBI, Kessel 2-for-4 and Ryan AndersonDrue Vernon and Drew Crawford were all 2-for-3.

Steve Paskowski was 3-for-3 for Mount in the opener.

The Mounties actually led game two, 2-0, by scoring two runs in the first off of SU freshman Daniel Eadie, but Shenandoah answered with three of its own in the bottom of the frame.

After Mount tied it at 3-3 with a third-inning run, the Hornets took the lead for good with two in the bottom of the fourth. SU did its damage without a benefit of a hit – Mounties starter and losing pitcher Gary L'Abbe walked the bases loaded before Anderson lifted a sacrifice fly to right and Scott Lambert had an RBI groundout.

Lambert's at-bat was L'Abbe last – he allowed five runs on five hits and seven walks in 3.2 innings.

Eadie (2-0) struck out eight, including at least one batter looking in every inning, in 5.0 innings before Gage Levac pitched the sixth and Daniel Bowers the seventh. Bowers earned the save after striking out one and getting two groundball outs after allowing a leadoff walk.

Anderson completed his day with two RBI on one hit in two at-bats with Lambert also driving in a pair of runs.
