FROSTBURG, Md. – Shenandoah University completed its 2007 women's lacrosse regular season Wednesday afternoon with a 19-5 non-league loss at Frostburg State.
FSU (4-4) scored the first 10 goals of the game against Shenandoah (5-10) and took a 10-1 lead into the halftime lockerroom.
Senior
Kelly Matagiese broke that scoreless string for the Hornets with an unassisted goal at 2:56, but the Lady Bobcats snuffed out any chance at a comeback by scoring the first three goals of the second.
Matagiese had three goals for SU with
Arissa Malick adding two goals and one assist.
Ann Long led all scorers with eight goals and one assist – she was one of 14 different women to register at least one point for the hosts. All but two FSU field starters scored at least one goal.
The Lady Bobcats outshot Shenandoah 39-12 and had a 24-22 edge in groundballs. Senior
Courtney Beard led the Hornets in that latter category with eight.
