BURLINGTON, N.C. – Top-seeded Christopher Newport University ended Shenandoah University's women's lacrosse season with a 21-3 victory over the Hornets in the 2007 USA South Conference Tournament semi-finals Saturday afternoon at Springwood Park.
CNU (10-4) advances to Sunday's championship game against Greensboro. The Pride defeated Methodist 20-5 in Saturday's other semi-final.
Shenandoah (5-11) saw the Lady Captains score the first four goals of the game and take a 10-2 lead into halftime. Junior
Arissa Malick scored the Hornets first goal, off of a
Kelly Matagiese assist, before Matagiese made it 6-2 CNU with an unassisted goal at 14:33.
Christopher Newport then reeled off the game's next 11 goals to clinch the victory.
Kristen Conques led the victors with three goals and three assists for six points with Shayna Sargent adding four goals and two assists. CNU outshot Shenandoah 42-17 and won 20 of the game's 24 draws.

Wendy Taylor played well with 19 saves.
Malick had two goals and Matagiese one goal and one assist for Shenandoah. On Sunday, the latter capped her career by being named to the All-Tournament team.
