WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University put the finishing touches on its second-most successful baseball season ever with 7-3 and 3-0 non-league victories over Catholic University Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets (27-15) break last season's previous second-best wins mark of 25 with the sweep. The sweep is also the sixth for the squad this season.

Catholic (16-20) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in second inning of game one, but the Hornets answered with two of their own in the bottom of the fourth.

Shenandoah then took the lead for good in the fifth, chasing CUA starter Joseph Voiro (3-7) in the process. Senior David Jenkins provided the game-winning RBI with a triple to center that scored both David Divineand Scott Lambert from second and first, respectively.

The hosts added two more runs in the sixth before Catholic was able to get to winning pitcher Jason Byrne (2-0) for a single run in the seventh.

Byrne allowed one runs on four hits and two walks in 4.0 innings of relief.

Daniel Ziccardy, Adam Kessel and Josh Campbell all had two hits in the contest.

SU managed just five hits in the nightcap, but Jenkins made his count with a three-run HR in the third that gave the hosts the winning margin.

Senior Jason Burgess capped his career off by tossing a six-hit shutout - he struck out three and walked one to improve to 6-0 this spring.
