WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University continued its strong start of the 2009 baseball season Sunday afternoon with a 16-8 non-league victory over Mount Aloysius.

For the second straight day, Shenandoah (6-1) used the long ball from sophomore Kevin Brashears and junior Scott Van Dusseldorp to key the victory.

After the Mounties (1-1) took 2-0 and 4-2 leads with a pair of unearned runs in both the second and fourth innings, SU rallied with four runs in the fourth and six more in the fifth.

Brashears, who broke open a tie game Saturday with a two-run HR, did the same Sunday afternoon. The sophomore lofted a ball into right center, where the 20 mph wind took it over the fence for his second four-bagger in as many days.

Shenandoah completely busted things open in the fifth, sending 10 men to the plate and scoring six runs on five hits and one Mount error.

Van Dusseldorp provided the big blast with his two-run HR to right while Brashears had an RBI single up the middle and Scott Lambert drove in a run with a triple down the right field line.

The offense was more than enough for freshman Eric Rabung (2-0). Rabung allowed four unearned runs on six hits in six innings and struck out seven.

Brashears and freshman Cory Nelson each finished their day 3 for 4 with four runs scored with Brashears adding the three RBI. Lambert contributed two of the Hornets other seven hits.
