BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Visiting Shenandoah University ran its baseball winning streak to eight games Thursday afternoon with an 8-4 non-league victory over Bridgewater College.

Shenandoah (10-1) took control of Thursday's contest with three runs in the fourth and four more in the sixth to take a 7-0 lead over the Eagles (2-4).

After BC helped the Hornets by committing two errors in the fourth, SU banged out four of its nine hits on the day in the four-run sixth. Jesse Henry drew a leadoff walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch and third when Greg Van Sickler singled to right.

Scott Van Dusseldorp drove in Henry with a single before he and Van Sickler were sacrificed to second and third by designated hitter Cory Nelson.

Josh Simons then plated Van Sickler with the eventual game-winning run on a single.

The remaining two runs came home on a Jasen Eberz groundout and a Sean Plouffe single.

Sophomore Brian Goddard led a group of four Hornets pitchers by scattering two hits and three walks in 5.0 innings. He struck out four before turning it over to freshman Bryce Sears to start the sixth.

Simons and Scott Lambert each had two hits for the victors with the latter driving in the team's final run with a ninth-inning single.
