WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University concluded its USA South
Conference men's tennis slate Saturday afternoon with an 8-1 loss
to Averett University.
The No. 3 doubles duo of Ethan Lawrence and Peter Baggan was an
8-5 winner for the Hornets (2-11, 0-6 USA South), but Averett (5-6,
3-2) swept the other eight matches by dropping just a combined six
games.
Two of those games came at No. 1 doubles, where Michael Milanov
and Adam Bamberger fell 8-2.
The six singles matches all went in straight sets and no Cougars
player lost more than one game.
The loss puts SU into the No. 7 seed for the USA South
Tournament beginning on Friday in Burlington, N.C. Shenandoah will
face second-seeded Christopher Newport in the quarterfinal
round.
