Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. – No. 14/14 Shenandoah University headed down the homestretch of its longest road trip of the baseball season Tuesday afternoon with a 17-3 non-league win at Catholic.

Shenandoah (24-6) won for the third time in four games on what will be a five-game road trip with the victory at CUA (12-6).

This season-long road swing concludes Wednesday at Elizabethtown.

Junior Ben Hendrickson (3-0) was the winning pitcher – he tossed the first 8.0 innings of the contest and had eight strikeouts against 11 hits and two walks.

Senior Scott Van Dusseldorp led the Hornets offense with a 4 for 5 day that included a three-run HR while junior Kevin Brashears had three hits in six at-bats from his leadoff spot.

The two men combined for six of the team's 19 hits on the day.  Eight of the nine starters had at least one hit and seven (Brashears, Van Dusseldorp, Greg Van Sickler, Jon Holcomb, Cory Nelson, Jesse Henry and Jake Pendergraft) had at least two.

Van Dusseldorp's dinger is his 10th of the season and the 27th of his career. His next home run will tie him with Geoff Williams '00 for the all-time lead in that category at SU.

The 10 HR this season also ties Williams' 1998 campaign as the third best in school history. Van Dusseldorp is five home runs behind Jeremy Schutt '01, who had 15 round-trippers in 2000.
