WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's tennis team earned its second victory of the season Friday afternoon with a 6-3 non-league win over Ferrum.
After falling behind 3-1 thanks to a Ferrum (1-4) win at No. 1 doubles and Shenandoah (2-0) defaults at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles, the Hornets roared back to sweep the top four singles matches and clinch the victory.
Zach O'Neal and Will Leach, who combined for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles, were 6-3, 6-3 and 6-3, 6-4 victors, respectively, at No. 3 and No. 2 singles.
Steven Baker won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 and Kelly Sykes 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 before Dustan DeMello completed the singles sweep with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 5.
The Hornets are back in action on March 20 versus Washington and Lee.
