Men's Tennis Dominates Albion

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Shenandoah University men's tennis team earned its third victory of the season Thursday afternoon with an 8-1 non-league win over Albion (Mich.) College.

Taking on Albion (2-4), coached by former SU standout Tim Dunford, the Hornets (3-3) won all seven contested matchups in straight sets.

Shenandoah also earned victories at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles via default.

After Steven Baker and Jesse Ewing gutted out a 9-8 (2) win at No. 1 doubles, Baker was a 6-4, 6-1 victor at No. 1 singles to give him a second win of the afternoon.

Freshman Matt Hwang, who picked up a default win in doubles, had the match-clinching victory in singles with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Troy Pozolo at No. 3.

Blake Sharp also was a double winner on the day, pairing with Kelly Sykes to win 8-5 at No. 2 doubles and then winning 6-4, 6-3 over Will Pearl at No. 4 singles.

Will Leach, with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles, had the final win in contested matches.

SU completes its spring break trip on Saturday with a 2 p.m. ODAC match at Guilford.
