Box Score 2 WINCHESTER, Va. - The No. 12/17 Shenandoah University baseball team registered its second doubleheader sweep in as many days by taking out Penn St. - Altoona Monday afternoon in non-conference action.
Shenandoah (6-2) was a 3-1 winner in the opener before taking the nightcap 6-2 over the Lions (5-8).
Game one took just 75 minutes as freshman Colin Morse (1-0) tossed a complete game two-hitter.
Morse struck out five and walked one in earning the victory in his first-ever collegiate appearance.
Senior Michael Paul provided Morse with all of the offense he would need with a two-run HR in the bottom of the first.
Paul plated Billy Arens with his first dinger of the spring; Arens led off the game by drawing a base on balls.
Four Shenandoah pitchers, led by senior Matthew Wilson (1-0), threw in game two. Wilson pitched the first two innings, allowing two hits and striking out one, before turning it over to classmate Brandon Duarte for the third and fourth.
Duarte allowed the Lions' two runs on two hits and two walks while striking out two.
Neil Dutton pitched a scoreless fifth and sixth before freshman Ryan Kinter recorded the final three outs.
Daniel Freshley led an eight-hit attack with a 2 for 2 day that included an RBI.
Sophomore Jacob Loew drove in the game-winning run with a three-run double to center in the bottom of the first.
SU continues this homestand Tuesday with a 3:30 ODAC contest against Washington and Lee.
