SALEM, Va. - Host Roanoke College earned its first ODAC men's tennis victory of the season Saturday with an 8-1 win over Shenandoah University.

The Maroons (4-1, 1-0 ODAC) swept the doubles and then took all but the No. 4 singles match in taking out the Hornets (3-6, 0-5).

Freshman Matt Hwang had that singles win for SU, winning 5-7, 6-3, 6-3.

The next closest matches came as No. 1 doubles, No. 1 singles and No. 5 singles.

At No. 1 doubles, Steven Baker and Jesse Ewing fell 9-8 (4) before Baker dropped a 6-4, 7-6 (3) decision at No. 1 singles.

Will Leach was able to extend his No. 5 singles match to a second set, winning the first set 6-2 before dropping the second and third 6-0 and 6-2, respectively.

The Hornets return home on Tuesday to host Bridgewater in a 3:30 ODAC match.
