Men's Tennis Takes Out Tigers

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's tennis team earned its first ODAC victory of the season Saturday with a 6-3 win over Hampden-Sydney.

Playing at the Boar's Head in Charlottesville, SU (4-6, 1-5 ODAC) opened up with wins at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles before clinching with wins over the Tigers (1-9, 0-5) in four of the six singles matches.

Steven Baker and Zach O'Neal were both double winners for the Hornets.

Baker combined with Jesse Ewing to win 8-6 at No. 1 doubles before taking out Trent Singleton at No. 1 singles.

O'Neal, who paired up with Matt Hwang to win 8-1 at No. 3 doubles, won his No. 6 singles match at love.

Blake Sharp and Will Leach won at No. 3 and No. 5 singles, respectively, to round out the SU winners.

Sharp's match was the clinching victory.

Shenandoah is back in action at home on Wednesday in a non-league match against Stevenson.
