TOWSON, Md. - Host Goucher College dropped just a single set on its way to a 9-0 non-league men's tennis victory over Shenandoah Tuesday afternoon.
The Gophers (4-0) opened up with three straight doubles wins, losing just a combined three games in opening up that 3-0 advantage.
GC then completed the victory over SU (1-3) with straight set wins at Nos. 2 thru 5 singles.
The match at No. 1, between the Hornets Stephen Baker and the Gophers Joe Caracappa, was a classic. The two split the first two sets, each winning at 4, before deciding the match on a 10-point pro-set.
Caracappa won it at 8, giving the hosts the shutout victory.
Shenandoah is back in action Saturday in its ODAC opener versus Guilford. This match will be a doubleheader with the SU women.
