WINCHESTER, Va. - Roanoke College even its men's tennis record at the .500 mark Saturday with an 8-1 ODAC victory over Shenandoah.
Shenandoah (3-8, 2-4 ODAC) battled tough throughout doubles; the Hornets won at least five games in each of the three matches versus Roanoke (5-5, 3-2).
Zach O'Neal and Jesse Ewing at No. 2, as well as Steven Baker and Bryan Harris at No. 3, both fell 8-6.
In singles, O'Neal was a 6-1, 6-3 victor over Chris Teeple at No. 5.
Baker extended his No. 1 singles match to three sets. After squaring his match at one set each with a 6-4 win in the second, Baker fell 10-2 to Joey Ross in the third set tie-break.
Shenandoah takes to the road this Wednesday for a 4 p.m. ODAC match at Bridgewater.
