WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Shepherd University swept the doubles on its way to defeating Shenandoah University 9-0 in non-league men's tennis action Saturday evening.
The Rams (3-1) won at 4, 3 and 2, respectively, in the three doubles matches to take a commanding 3-0 lead over Shenandoah (0-1) in the match played indoors at Winchester Country Club.
Shepherd then clinched the win with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles and a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 4.
The closest match came at No. 2 singles where Brett Dubin fell 6-4, 6-4 to Grant Davis. At No. 5, Zach Frack battled in an 8-5 pro-set loss to Austin Thomas.
Dubin previously combined with Matt Hwang at No. 1 doubles. That duo had the 8-4 loss to Carter Davis and Grant Davis.
Shenandoah returns to the court in two weeks to face Frostburg State in another non-league indoor match.
