SALEM, Va. – Junior Matt Hwang was the lone winner for the men's tennis team in an 8-1 ODAC loss at Roanoke Sunday afternoon.
Hwang won 6-1, 6-1 for Shenandoah (1-9, 0-7 ODAC) at No. 1 singles in the match played on Roanoke's Elizabeth Campus Courts.
The Maroons (3-9, 2-4) won three of the remaining five singles matches in straight sets.
At No. 3, Bryan Harris won the opening set 6-2 before Chris Teeple rallied with 6-4 and 6-3 wins in the second and third sets, respectively.
At No. 6, Andrew Richards forced a third set with a 6-3 win in the second. Matt Friedlander won the match with a 10-4 third set tiebreaker victory. Friedlander won the opening set 6-1.
The closest doubles match came at No. 3, where Kyler Apgar and Zach Frack fell 8-6.
The men are back in action on Thursday in a non-league match versus Southern Virginia.
