Men's Tennis Opens at ITA

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Senior Matt Hwang dropped his opening match Friday night at the ITA Southeast Regionals hosted by the University of Mary Washington.

Playing in the round of 128 of the championship singles bracket, Hwang dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Peter Schmidt from Dickinson College.

The loss puts Hwang into the consolation bracket of the tournament.

The tournament continues Saturday with the opening rounds of the B1, B2 and B3 singles as well as all three doubles flights.

Hwang is paired with Brett Dubin in the championship doubles flight with the duo set to face Tommy Cheng and Kailas Shekar from Carnegie Mellon at 8 a.m. Saturday morning. Zack Frack and Darian Diaz, playing in the B2 doubles flight, face off versus Womden Ly and Raymond McDermott from Stevenson at the same time.
