WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Stevenson University won the final two singles matches Sunday to rally for a 5-4 non-league men's tennis victory over Shenandoah.
Shenandoah (6-5) took a 2-1 lead after doubles thanks to 8-3 wins at Nos. 1 and 3. Both Matt Hwang and Darian Diaz took the No. 1 doubles contest with Evan Rosenberg and Kyler Apgar winning at No. 3.
Zack Frack earned the Hornets third point with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.
With its back to the wall, Stevenson then won then next two matches, at Nos. 2 and 4, to knot the contest at 3-3.
Hwang gutted out a 1-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 1 to put SU one point from victory, but the Mustangs had other ideas.
Stevenson rallied for the victory with straight set victories at Nos. 5 and 6, winning 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 and 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6.
Shenandoah is back in action on Saturday at Lynchburg in 1 p.m. ODAC match.
