ARLINGTON, Va. - Rising sophomore Alyson Bittinger has been named the Virginia State Rookie of the Year for women's lacrosse in selections announced Monday afternoon by the Virginia State Sports Information Directors Association.
Bittinger, from Westminster, Maryland, led the Hornets this past season with 47 goals and nine assists for 56 points. She added 43 draw controls, 30 groundballs and 18 draw controls on her way to being named second team All-ODAC and the ODAC Rookie of the Year.
The midfielder is the first women's lacrosse player to earn ODAC Rookie of the Year honors since the university joined the ODAC for the 2012-13 school year.
