WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's basketball team hosts its annual V Foundation contest Wednesday evening in a 7 p.m. ODAC contest versus Bridgewater College.
Â
The Hornets (5-11, 2-5 ODAC) and Eagles (6-10, 2-5) are currently tied with Randolph College for ninth place in the league standings.
Â
A portion of the gate receipts, along with the proceeds of a raffle, will be donated to the V Foundation and its fight against cancer.
Â
Moe's Southwest Grill, which is opening a restaurant in Winchester in the next month, is providing the raffle prizes. In addition to $20 in "Moe Bucks", the grand prize winner will also receive free burritos for a year.
Â
Donations will be accepted at the gate through halftime of the game with raffle winners selected during the second half.
Â
In addition, the Hornets are hosting the game in conjunction with the Coaches versus Cancer initiative from the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Â
As part of that effort, head coach
Adam Walsh and his staff will be wearing sneakers on the sidelines during the game in a continuing effort to raise awareness in fighting this disease.
Â
Wednesday's game is part of a league-wide initiative with the men's basketball programs and the V Foundation. This is the third consecutive year that the Hornets have participated in the program.
