Men's Soccer Overthrows Royals

Hornets Clinch Best Season Since 2004 with 6-0 Win

WINCHESTER, Va. -  The Shenandoah University Men's Soccer team defeated Eastern Mennonite 6-0 in ODAC action Wednesday afternoon. 

The Hornets (7-7-2, 2-3-2 ODAC) scored early and often with three goals in a five-minute-span early in the first half to defeat the Royals  (1-14, 1-6).  

HOW IT HAPPENED

15' | Nathan Yared took the ball up the sideline and defeated multiple defenders to open up the scoring floodgates. 
17' | Nicholas Mounkhaty traveled up the left sideline and sent a cross to Jasson Acosta in the center of the box, his one touch to the right freed up space for the Hornets second goal of the afternoon. 
19' | Brendan Zavabda found space and set up classmate Chris Chaplin. Chaplin's shot landed in the top-left corner just above the keepers' head. 
32' | Yared dished an assist to Zavabda for the fourth goal of the night.
85' | Pedro Flor worked around two defenders before placing the ball in the top-right corner to make it a five goal game
88' | Yared added his second assist by finding Niclas Vavra for the header off of a corner kick 

UP NEXT

Shenandoah plays again on Saturday, October 23rd at 5:00 p.m. against Ferrum College. This is the last weekend home match for the Hornets and the seniors prior to the start of the contest.
