LEXINGTON, Va. - Host Washington & Lee opened up its 2021 men's wrestling season with a 50-0 non-league shutout victory over Shenandoah Friday evening.
W&L (1-0) opened with forfeit victories at 125, 133, and 141 before sweeping the Hornets (1-3) with three falls, a technical fall, and three decisions.

The closest match came at 184, where Patrick Hofstedt used a final minute takedown to defeat Thomas Domerese, 3-2.Â
Domerese was able to escape to cut the deficit in half, but could not get the winning takedown in the waning moments.
David Smith dropped a 4-0 match at 149 and Dylan Weaver 11-4 at 174 for the other decision losses.
All three Generals victories by fall occurred in the first period.
