Weaver Wins Match at 174 for Hornets

WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting No. 25 Ferrum College earned wins in the opening six matches Saturday in a 47-3 non-league men's wrestling victory over Shenandoah University.
 
Hosting the first-ever wrestling match in the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center, Shenandoah (0-2) earned its lone victory in the match at 174 pounds.

IN BRIEF

Freshman Dylan Weaver got that victory, executing a takedown 10 seconds into the sudden victory extra period to defeat Elijah Martin, 6-4.
 
Martin had forced overtime by earning the riding time point at the end of regulation.
 
In exhibition action, Thomas Domerese defeated Brandon Harrison, 9-3, at 174 pounds.
 
Ferrum (2-0) recorded two wins via fall, two by major decision and one by decision in the six contested matches. SU forfeited at 125, 133, 141, and 197 pounds.

"Dylan's (Dylan Weaver) win was a good one because he reversed a result from the Star City Classic," head coach Tim McGuire said. "It's tough giving up four forfeits, but we will get there. We are getting better every day."
