Hampden-Sydney Tops Men's Hoops

Hornets Fall, 86-61

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. - Hampden-Sydney used a strong shooting performance Saturday afternoon to fuel an 86-61 ODAC men's basketball victory over Shenandoah.

H-SC (11-6, 6-4 ODAC) shot 56 percent from the field (33-of-59) in pulling away from Shenandoah (3-15, 2-7).

IN BRIEF
The Tigers did their damage in both halves of the game, shooting 53 percent (17-of-32) in a 42-point opening stanza and then 59 percent (16-of-27) in scoring 44 second half points.

SU, which was without the services of Jaylen Williams, the leading scorer in the ODAC, shot 48 percent (11-of-23) in the first half but suffered through a 9-of-24 performance in the second (38 percent). The hosts led by nine, 42-33, at the break and then opened the second half with a 13-4 run to take total control.

Shenandoah would get no closer than 19 points the rest of the way and Hampden-Sydney led by at least 20 for the final 3:37.

Davion Roberts paced the Hornets with 16 points with Noah Adams adding 12. Twelve of the 14 men seeing action in 14 men seeing action in the game scored at least one point.

H-SC also had a 39-20 advantage on the boards and scored 23 points off of 19 SU turnovers.

Shenandoah continues this roadtrip Monday night with a 7 p.m. ODAC contest at Bridgewater.
