LEXINGTON, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's wrestling team dropped a pair of dual matches Saturday at Virginia Military Institute.
 
Shenandoah (1-3) opened the day with a 33-5 loss to DII Fairmont (W. Va.) State before the host Keydets were 53-0 victors in the finale.
 
FAIRMONT STATE RECAP
The Hornets won a pair of matches, including the initial one of the match, versus DII Fairmont.
 
With the match starting at 141 pounds, the Hornets took the early lead as Hunter Ballentine was a 6-2 winner over Caleb Everhart.
 
Fairmont answered with three straight wins, however, to seize control of the match.
 
Shenandoah's second victory came at 174, where Jalen Cornelius was an 11-8 victor over Nick Kelbaugh.

The VMI match also started at 141 and the Keydets (5-0) posted two technical falls and a pin in the opening three matches on their way to the shutout victory.
 
The Hornets closes match came at 174, where Jalen Cornelius fought to a 10-1 major decision loss to Jon Hoover.
 
VMI had five technical falls and four pins in the other nine matches.
